Lightboxes

A lightbox is exactly what it says - a light source in a box. The box is usually an aluminium shell which contains an array of flourescent tubes. The front of the lightbox consists of a panel made of translucent acrylic to allow light transmission. Lightboxes are very versatile and many choose it as a sign can be manufactured and installed relatively quickly.

Neon Signs

Neon Signs consist of sealed glass tubes which have been filled with either Neon, Argon, Helium or Krypton. Each gas when electrified glows with a different colour. By combing colour coated glass many different colours can be achieved.

When neon is combined with built up letters very nice effects can be achieved as seen below

LED

Relatively new method employed to illuminated signs. LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) are semi-conductors which produce light when electrified. LEDs are easy to install and very durable when compared to neon and are rapidly gaining popularity in illuminated signs. Presently there is a limited colour range and surprisingly white light emitting leds are the most expensive.

Trough Lights

Trough Lights (also known as line lights) are another method employed to illuminated signs. They usually sit on top of the sign and extend all the way across the face of the sign - casting an even amount of light acros the sign albeit from the top. See example below.

Spot Lights

Spots are another great way of illuminating your sign. They are cheap and offer the option of using halogens. By using them to cast light in a particular direction, very nice effects can be produced. Spots are cheap and can be purchased from any DIY store. We can also supply and fit a more styled type of spot light if required.
