A designed solution?
When we say "we want to give you the best possible designed solution", we mean that by following some principles of design we can provide you with signs that make more of an impact on your customers.
This does not necessarily mean more expense. Sometimes the simplest changes have the biggest impact.
How often have you seen a sign where all the text is centred?
This is a common mistake and frankly a little lazy. There has been little thought given to how the layout affects the overall impact to the end user; in many such situations the sign has not been designed.
On the face of it this is a good sign. It is clear and to the point, all the text is centred, which is where the eye tends to go first.
But lets take a closer look at this.
What is happening with this kind of sign is that your eyes are moving to different positions for every new line.
Imagine if there were 10 or more lines to read - with this sort of layout your eyes would tire very quickly. The lack of rhythm makes it difficult to read.
So How do we Fix this Sign
Well, as you can see we have made some modifications - not many but enough to give the sign a fresher more open look.
We've used white space more judiciously, grouped similar items together and lined them up. Added a little bit of a background graphic for some interest and that is it!
Our brains like this kind of order and as a result, a kind of harmony is created which makes it a little easier to read and digest.
And this is key - when you have seconds to attract someone's attention, the easier it is digest that information the better your chances of connecting with that person.
And after all that is your ultimate aim - to connect with someone so that they pick up the phone and call or walk into your business and make an enquiry.
This is what we mean by a designed solution. Something that seems very intangible but whose result is very tangible indeed.
