The most common types of plastics used in signage are Acrylic, PVC, Makrolon, Polyester, Polystyrene, and Fluted Polypropylene (Correx).

There are there are many other types of plastics used in Building and Engineering, but these are the most suited for signage in terms of cost, durability, and longevity



What is Acrylic

Acrylic is a thermoplastic commonly known as acrylic glass. It is sold under a variety of trade names such as Perspex, Lucite, Plexiglas. It is often used as an alternative to glass and arguably it has properties which make it superior to glass.

It is widely used in the signage industry because of its versatility. It has high impact resistance and excellent weathering and ageing properties.

Foam PVC

Foam PVC is also know as Expanded PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) is a chemically foamed, rigid, lightweight extruded sheet. It has a fine, uniform surface making it ideal for printing and sign fabrication.

Correx

What is Correx

This is a sturdy plastic sheeting extruded from polypropylene or high density polyethylene. It consists of 2 sheets of plastic with ribs running at right angles in between.

These provide support and strength and add a unique ability to be flexed unlimited times without breaking.
